Celebrating Those Who Turn Ideas into Innovation

Without inventors, you'd be reading this blog by deciphering images drawn on a cave wall, instead of on a device small enough to fit in your pocket.

National Inventors' Day is celebrated annually in the U.S. on Feb. 11, which just so happens to be the birthday of one of the most famous inventors of all time: Thomas Edison. Edison is one of a number of inventors with Ohio ties - the Wright brothers (aviation), Charles Richter (Richter Scale), and Josephine Cochrane (dishwasher), to name a few. With our Ohio roots, Battelle is proud to contribute to the noteworthy history of life-changing innovations stemming from this state.

At Battelle, we consider ourselves very fortunate to have some of the brightest and most creative minds walking our hallways and working in our labs. Our intellectual capital is the lifeblood of our business, and we make sure to show our appreciation to those employees who turn their ideas into realities.

We annually recognize the many employees who are named on U.S. patents (there were more than 50 of them last year). We call out those who've received multiple patents and give them the title of Distinguished Inventors. And we annually name one standout employee as Inventor of the Year. 

As we gear up for our annual Celebration of Solvers event in April, where employees are recognized for outstanding achievements, we look forward to naming our newest Inventor of Year. We can't wait to see what ideas he or she has percolating.
